Hi there, this is Dr Jolvin Lee from Tooth Heaven. I am here to talk about what kind of X-rays we use at Tooth Heaven. We live in the 21st century and digital is all around us. Everything is getting digitalised and generally digital makes life easier and more convenient for both the user and the customer. The same goes for Dentistry. Digital has changed the world of dentistry when it comes to X-Rays.
At Tooth Heaven, we use 2 different types of Digital X-rays
Digital Intraoral Xrays
- With Digital Intraoral Xrays, the size has reduced drastically and is more comfortable in the mouth
- It is also quick, that upon capturing the images, the image shows up on the computer in a matter of milli seconds.
- Not only the image coming up will be sharp, but it is also accurate.
- With digital, it allows you to zoom in and out, allowing you to see everything in detail, hence avoiding any missed holes or issues
- With digital, the exposure is also minimal. Studies have shown that flying from Melbourne to Sydney on a plane is up to 30x more radiation than actually a single Xray. Imagine that! That’s heaps!
- With absolutely minimal to negligible exposures, there is no contraindication to getting xrays done, even on pregnant women
- Despite the already super safe dose of radiation, Tooth Heaven still takes every precaution to reduce any radiation, no matter how minimal they are by giving you a lead apron to put on for every exposure.
Digital OPG
- On top of the already mentioned benefit before this from digital intraoral Xrays, our Dental Clinic is one of the very few dental clinics that actually come equipped with an OPG / Lateral Cephalogram machine.
- The typical Dental clinic would usually require patients to run around to different places to have the Xrays done. Imagine having a Toothache, and then you go to the dentist, and they refer you out to an Xray. You will then have to book an appointment with the Radiology Clinic to get the Xray, then get the results, and then rebook with the Dentist again to discuss the results. By then, a few weeks would have lapsed and your toothache would’ve just gotten worse! Tooth Heaven just wants to take that stress out of you so that whatever problem you might have, gets addressed
- The image that comes out of the OPG / Lateral Cephalogram machine comes out in seconds, allowing us to discuss our findings and start on a treatment for you right away!
